Spent a day with Bruce Jenner
Bruce Jenner rode in my car.
back when he still looked like Bruce Jenner.
But had seen him years earlier.
At the 1976 USA Olympic Trials in Eugene.
I was high
in the West Stands and he might
have set a world record
and I look off to the field nearby
see Bruce Jenner running, always
trying to get better.
Trying to become
the best.
Now he is trying to look
like a pretty Bette Midler.
Received today my copy of Vanity Fair
The “Call Me Caitlyn” issue,
shrink-wrapped in plastic and I am wondering
should I leave it unopened
so one of my grandchildren
can make a bundle on Ebay someday.
I was driving a big BMW
and Bruce said
my car was better than his.
