I Believe In Omens

I believe in Omens.

After Mother died –

she was watching her favorite

game show –

I suddenly started solving

crossword puzzles.

Visited Portlandia in springtime

came home and suddenly

started wearing thick dark

socks with open-toed sandals.

Found a copper penny in the dog run.

Lincoln’s face right on top.

Bought a lottery ticket.

I am too young still

to watch “Jeopardy.”

Luck is where you find it

I am thinking.

And I am on the lookout.

I believe in omens.
