My first senior tour, complete with identification sticker, buffet lunch and squawling infants.
Know before you go.
“Plan for about a two-hour drive from Sedona to the Grand Canyon.” We took a train.
“There is an entry fee per vehicle.” We took a bus.
“Sunset Crater and Wupatki National Monument are on the same route.” We didn’t go.
Take a jaw-dropping journey
If you’re in Arizona and you’ve never seen it (or even if you have), you owe it to yourself to visit the Grand Canyon. There is no place in the world quite like it. Even if all you do is walk up to the edge of the edge, the drive is absolutely worth it.
Which I didn’t take. Did have a lovely conversation with Edwina, a Hopi of the Bear Clan.
Here’s the thing. Pictures – no matter how artful – don’t begin to do the place justice. Skip Vegas. Skip Daytona Beach. Visit The Grand Canyon.
