There was this girl I really liked, who dumped me in junior high.  Never saw her again.  Still haven’t. A half century later, we renewed our friendship.  Strange for two kids to be so old. – JDW

Pine boughs heavy with snow crack and crash

in the stillness and serenity of the whitewashed scene

outside my lonely lair.

Inside,the endless drone of heavy news

darkens my mood and burdens my air.
