Strive To Thrive In ’25

The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing. – Stephen Covey

I still want to be an artist, but I simply cannot draw a line.  Or a circle.  My hand too often is my mind’s enemy.  Don’t have a straight finger and a few won’t bend.

So, I was thinking about collage.  My opinion, a writer is an artist.  Poet is an artist for sure, certainly.  And I admire the likes of Bill Burroughs and Warhol and Basquiat and the Beats and Bukowski and….

Confess I have shared these same thoughts for years now. Add Frank O’Hara and the New York School. Elizabeth Bishop.

This is my new year revolution.  MY ART MAKES ME HAPPY.  And if there is a you, somebody out there, who will share with me my spiritual journey – as one old lady at a reading explained to me – thank you so very much

Have fun.  Become your own hero.

Pretend I’m an artist – that’s what I do.

Start by setting goals.

I hope to be the exact same
in a whole entire different way.
In the New Year, I will
Notice the unnoticed.
Chew slower.
Floss regularly.
Be good to my neighbors.
Think positive.
Eradicate pain.
Find a new friend.
Somebody I can trust,
somebody different than me.
Spin around
and repeat after me.
Become an artist.
Become an artist.
Become an artist.

YOU CAN STOP SPINNING NOW.
