Everything might scatter. You might be right. I suppose it’s something we can’t easily get away from. People need to feel they belong. To a nation, to a race. Otherwise, who knows what might happen? This civilization of ours, perhaps it’ll just collapse. And everything scatter, as you put it. – Kazuo Ishiguro
The water is our place of peace.
We go to the water with love. To restore calm… deflecting insanity among the chaos.
We go to the water when the crowd is too loud.
We go to the water for special occasions. Where we celebrate love and calm.
We go to the water to cleanse our spirits, rinse our souls as splashing waves croon a peaceful undercurrent.
We go to the water to return home refreshed to try anew.
We go to the water.
A Zen koan (“A Cup Of Tea”) will explain why you should go to the water, too.
Nan-in, a Japanese master during the Meiji era (1868-1912), received a university professor who came to inquire about Zen.
Nan-in served tea. He poured his visitor’s cup full, and then kept on pouring.
The professor watched the overflow until the professor no longer could restrain himself.
“It is overfull. No more will go in!”
“Like this cup,” Nan-in said, “you are full of your own opinions and speculations.
“How can I show you Zen unless you first empty your cup?”
